Patients Who Come to a Therapist

People rarely listen to others’ advice if they see a contradiction between the advice they receive and their own ideas. People are inclined to listen to advice that supports our own preconceived ideas:

Source: The episode “The Show Where Lilith Comes Back” from the first season of American sitcom Frasier. In this episode, Kelsey Grammer plays Frasier Crane and David Hyde-Pierce plays Frasier’s brother, Niles Crane.
